What are charitable disclosures?
Charitable disclosure statements contain specific language to be listed on an organization’s solicitation materials, website, or other media to educate donors about the organizations that are soliciting them for charitable contributions. Additionally, directions on where to find more information about the entity’s mission and financials may need to be included.
Disclosure statements demonstrate that an organization and its leadership uphold their duty of care to the public. As a result, they serve to build trust with prospective donors, funders, and sponsors, and can even improve the credibility and effectiveness of the organization’s fundraising appeals.
